Event Rental Guide

Everything you need to plan tent, table, chair, and linen rentals for events across Des Moines and Central Iowa.

Tent Sizing: How Much Space Do You Need?

A reliable rule of thumb is 10–12 square feet per guest for a seated dinner with round tables, and 6–8 square feet per guest for cocktail-style or ceremony-only events. A 20×20 frame tent accommodates about 32 guests for a seated dinner, while a 40×60 pole tent comfortably seats 150 for a full meal. Always add 10% extra space for a dance floor, buffet tables, or a DJ setup. If your event includes a live band, allocate an additional 10×10 area. When in doubt, going one size up is always safer than crowding your guests — a spacious tent feels more inviting and keeps aisles clear for service staff.

Central Iowa Weather Planning

Iowa's four distinct seasons make weather a major factor in outdoor event planning. Summer months (June through August) bring heat and humidity — consider sidewalls with removable panels for airflow, or add fans to your rental package to keep guests comfortable. Afternoon thunderstorms are common in summer, so a tent with sidewalls protects against sudden rain and wind. Tornado season runs April through June; while direct impacts on events are rare, severe weather can develop quickly. We monitor forecasts closely and can adjust setup times accordingly. For fall events — September and October are the most popular months in Des Moines — book early, as cooler temperatures and colorful foliage make these months ideal for outdoor gatherings. Late fall and early spring events may require tent heaters, which are available as an add-on. Winter events (December through February) can be accommodated with heated, sidewall-enclosed tents for indoor-outdoor comfort.

Matching Rentals to Your Event Type

Weddings typically require a ceremony tent, a separate reception tent, round tables with chair covers and sashes, full-length floor linens, and a dedicated dance floor. Corporate events often use long banquet tables, folding chairs, and a stage or presentation area. Birthday parties and backyard gatherings usually need a single tent, rectangular tables, and basic seating. Quinceañeras call for a dance floor, a covered area for the court of honor, and decorative linens in the party's color scheme. Church events and company picnics benefit from large pole tents with picnic-style seating and serving tables. Tell us your event type and we'll build the right package.

Delivery, Setup & Surface Requirements

We deliver and set up all rentals throughout Des Moines, West Des Moines, Ankeny, Waukee, Urbandale, Johnston, and surrounding areas. Setup is included with every rental — there are no hidden delivery fees within our standard service area. For grass surfaces, we use stakes to anchor tents securely. For concrete, asphalt, brick, or paver surfaces, we use weighted barrel anchors. We need to know your surface type, any slope or uneven ground, and overhead obstructions like tree branches or power lines at the time of booking. Standard setup takes 1–3 hours depending on tent size, and we arrive early enough to complete installation well before your event begins.
